Mayor Anna Wilson with Mayor Guy Romain

Fordingbridge has been twinned with the French town of Vimoutiers for the last 40 years and a long weekend was planned across the Channel to celebrate this.

Fordingbridge Mayor, Cllr Anna Wilson attended with members of Fordingbridge Twinning Association.

The twinning celebrations took place over the weekend of 1-3 July when the town signed an updated Charter of Twinning and Friendship.

Our Mayor expressed Fordingbridge’s wish that this occasion could mark the beginning of a new era of friendship with a new sense of purpose because of a joint passion for our environment.

She went on to say that “By sharing ideas and projects we may be able to contribute in a small way to bringing nature back into balance”

The weekend included visits to local schools that have been looking at reducing food waste, recycling and an environmental conference .

The conference was also attended by The Burgate School, via Zoom, where students not only presented an extremely professional environmental subject presentation, but did so in French. The students are a credit to their school and to our town. Well done!
