Last Thursday, 11th April, saw the annual AGM of Fordingbridge Twinning Association.

New members were welcomed to their first FTA AGM. They were particularly encouraged to see how many events are planned for the coming year, including a Boules evening on 20th June, a visit to our twin town of Vimoutiers over the weekend of 19th/20th October, a 60s new-look (watch this space) musical soiree with live music on 26th October, and our famous/infamous Murder Mystery evening (always a sell-out), next 22nd February.

Earlier this year, at the annual murder mystery event, David Hales did an Excellent job at overseeing the event and being a “super-Inspector McClue”!

The annual “Foire de la Pomme” in Vimoutiers, which is the centre of the French apple industry in France, including Cider, Calvados Brandy and Camembert cheese, even, will, as always be a well-run, yet relaxed affair, whereby the English visitors always get well looked after.

We look forward to that, and additionally, Fordingbridge Twinning will be well-represented at the Fordingbridge event on 29th July,

The committee was re-elected, with a new treasurer (seen on the left of the picture above, Paul Hammond, who replaces Keith Bennett after 12 years of service). Keith was congratulated and thanked for all his efforts over the past 12 years.

It was intended to invite our French partner town (Vimoutiers) over here in the Summer for the Fordingbridge Event and Duck Race, planned to take place on Saturday 20th July.

However, the French will be busy planning and implementing the Olympic games, and our partnered town, Vimoutiers, will be particularly impacted by the equestrian Olympics, which will be taking place in Normandy.

So, maybe next year, perhaps?
