Congratulations go to Fordingbridge Town Council: it has been responsible for clearing away all the undergrowth around the plaque in Normandy Way, which celebrates the Twinning activities between Fordingbridge and its twin town in Normandy, Vimoutiers.

All that needs to happen now, is to send a painter along to ensure that the wording is legible again

Changing the subject, the next event that has been planned by “Fordingbridge Twinning”, is a “Music, dance and food evening” on Saturday 26th October, at 7.30 pm at Fordingbridge Town Hall.

The photo shows a community dance in a hall, with couples dancing to a live band. Union Jack bunting decorates the space, creating a festive British atmosphere.

The price is still only £15.00 per person, to include a buffet supper, featuring traditional produce which will have been collected from Vimoutiers.

During the previous week, some intrepid members of the Twinning Association, will have visited Vimoutiers’ annual Foire de la Pomme.

Vimoutiers is the centre of France’s apple industry, and therefore produces the bulk of France’s production of Cider, Calvados (and associated liqueurs) and apple tarts.

Tickets for this event are available from Caxton’s Decor (Salisbury Street) and Jessica’s (High Street).
