Founded in 1868 and recognized as England’s 12th oldest football club, Fordingbridge Turks FC added a new chapter to their historic legacy this week by securing promotion as champions of the Junior 1 Division in the Southampton Saturday League.
True to their name – drawn from the renowned fighting spirit of the Turkish Army – the Turks demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the season. Just weeks earlier, heartbreak struck as they were narrowly defeated in the Junior Cup Final against AFC Solent in a tense penalty shootout.
But with their league title hopes still alive, the squad rallied with renewed focus and grit.
Their response on the pitch was emphatic, culminating in a title-winning campaign that exemplified the enduring spirit of the club.
The triumph is a testament not only to the team’s perseverance but also to the passion and commitment that has defined Fordingbridge Turks for over 150 years.
